Introduction

Border Collies are intelligent and easily trainable they are energetic and obedient dogs.Its been about 200 years when border collie started to work with livestock in the border region of scotland.They are known for their high speed and hardworking nature.They are very friendly and love their families but may be a bit reserved with strangers,the breed has always been a source of comfort for humans.

Characteristics

Border Collies are known for their intelligence, energy, and herding abilities. Here are some key characteristics of this remarkable breed. Border Collies are intelligent and easily trainable obedient dogs, they are loyal and make a strong bond with their owners. They are energetic and need exercises for their mental healthThey are basically healthy dogs but may develop some health issues. Puppy Border Collie dog breeding is a serious responsibility. Care, effort, and dedication are required for the proper development of each puppy dog. 

Physical Characteristics

Size: Border Collies are medium size dogs

Males:  30-45 pounds 

Females:  27-42 pounds 

Border Collies are 18-22 inches tall at the shoulder.

Coat: Border  Collies have double coat 

Colour: Coat comes in different colours Black and white ,Red And White , Blue Merley , Red Merley , Sable And White , Tricolor , Lilac , Slate , Gold , White , Brindle and more information about colours.

Eyes: Eyes are expressive brown, blue, or even one of each(heterochromia).

Head: The head is proportionate to the body, broad and strong skull.

Ears: Ears can be erect, semi-erect, or fully dropped.

Expression: Alert, intelligent and keen, They Show readiness and eagerness to work.

Tail: Border Collies have a moderately long bushy tail.When they are at rest, the tail is carried low with a slight upward curve at the end.When the dog is excited or working the tail is often carried higher.

Collar: Many of the Border Collies have long fur around their neck.

Temperament

Border Collies are considered the most intelligent dog breeds ,they love to work and will be happy when the owner give task to do,they are energetic so they need regular physical work ,if you dont give them any work they will become bored and may develop some behavioral issues.

Border Collies Are very loyal to their owner and makes a strong unbreakable bond with owner and their family.they are very alert and responsive and they are always aware of their surroundings.

Common Health Issues

Border Collies can be prone to specific genetic conditions like 

Hip Dysplasia: Hip Dysplasia is a genetic malformation of the hip joints leading to arthritis

Epilepsy: A neurological disorder that can cause seizures.

Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA): Eye condition that can cause vision problems or blindness.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA): Inherited diseases that cause the retina to deteriorate over time this will lead to blindness.

Deafness: Some Border Collies prone to deafness, if they have a lot of white in their coat but not in every case.

Hypothyroidism: Due to thyroid gland problem such symptoms may occur like weight gain and skin problems.Can be managed by medication.

Try to make regular veterinary checkups and also give them proper vaccination , by doing this you can detect any health issue at early stage and your dog will live a healthy life. Regulary brush thier teeth to avoid periodontal disease common in dogs

Origins:

Region: Borders of England and Scotland The terrain of this region and the manner in which agriculture has been practiced here have played a key role in shaping the breed.

Herding Roots: Developed for her work in herding livestock, especially sheep. The descendants of the Border Collie were probably a group of about five strands taken by Romans and then regulatory halogenation in British lands.

Early Development
 

History: Because Border Collies were predominantly a working breed, they have very few records before the late 19th century. But the genes of this breed can be found higher, with cattle dogs that bear more than a passing similarity in function to Collies used for centuries back into history on the British Isles.

Herding: The Border Collie was developed from various types of herding dogs, primarily the ones found in Scandanavia. The name of the breed, “Collie”, comes from the Scotch word for sheepdog.

Recognition and Incentive System

Early ID: The Border Collie was first referred to as such in the 19th century based on information from working dogs around the national boundaries. This made the breed excellent not just for herding but also really smart.

Breed Standard: In the early 20th century, a breed standard for Border Collies was formalized. The breed gained official recognition by the Kennel Club (UK) in 1906. The Border Collie was recognized by the American Kennel Club as a breed in 1995.

Herding Ability: Border Collies, being bred as herders are some of the most intense dogs in terms of focus with a need for agility and intelligence to move sheep or cattle. They were employed in controlling massive herds of sheep, and often worked their dead end jobs under tough circumstances.

Overall: As such, Border Collies later became known for their versatility in dog sports and trials of all sorts including agility, obedience competition events [18] or Schutzhund. Because of their high level of trainability and eagerness to work, they have branched out into a number roles beyond traditional herding.
