Grooming

The grooming of these dogs involves an occasional bath, brushing, and clearing their ears, teeth, and nails. Here are some guidelines for grooming these pets.

Brushing

  • Frequency: Brush your pet at least two times a week to remove loose fur and stop matting.
  • Tools: Use a smooth brush or a pin brush for their double coat, focusing on the affected tangles, like behind the ears and under the legs.

Bathing

  • Frequency: After 6 to 8 weeks, bathe your pet, if they need it. Most bathing can harm their coat of natural oils.
  • Shampoo:  Use a shampoo that is dog-specific. That suitable for their double coat.

Ear Care

  • Check: Check their ears every week, for signs of infection, redness, and dirt.
  • Cleaning: Use a ear cleaner and cotton balls to slowly clean the ears as recommended by their vet.

Nail Trimming

  • Frequency: Trim your dog’s nails every 3 to 4 weeks, that is very important.
  • Tools: You can use the dog nail cliper or a grider, be careful not to cut very close to the quick.

Teeth Brushing

  • Frequency: Brush your pet’s teeth 2 to 3 times a week to manage their dental health.
  • Tools: Use only specific dog toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Coat Care

  • Sheddig: Expect decent shedding, mostly during daily changes. Increase their brushing regularly during these times when they need it.

On a daily basis, grooming not only keeps your dog looking good, but it also helps you monitor their health.
